Puerto Rico Top Level Domain is the eighth user that hosts copies of its ccTLD zone in the LACTLD Anycast Cloud. Its incorporation will allow the ccTLD to obtain significant benefits in terms of speed, availability and resilience.
Anycast is an addressing technology that allows optimal and efficient use of networks. Certainly, by storing copies of its zone in the different nodes that integrate the network, .PR will be able to reduce response times considerably and will gain greater availability to respond to the DNS queries.
Furthermore, as a client of the LACTLD Anycast Cloud, the ccTLD will have instant recovery instances in the case of an incident or attack. Due to its operating logic, the network automatically removes the routing options that go down or stop working because of some inconvenience. Thus, future traffic will continue to be directed to the available nodes of the Anycast Cloud. This is a key aspect for ccTLDs that are vulnerable to natural disasters.
LACTLD renews the invitation to all regional ccTLDs that would like to be part of this initiative, as clients or as nodes. Our Organization continues to work on cooperation strategies that promote the growth of the Cloud in order to contribute to the Internet stability and development in Latin America and the Caribbean.
