.CL has over half a million domains

NIC Chile announced on 22 March that its total number of domains rose to 500 thousand. Since the beginning of .cl in 1987, it has seen a constant increase in its registrations. By 1997 there were 1,500 domain names and since then it has never stopped growing.
According to the registry director Patricio Poblete, one of the strengths of .CL is the great level of acceptance and demand of .CL domains within the country. Many businesses and users decide to expand their Internet identity with us.
This important milestone sees NIC Chile in a process of change, oriented at improving the services it provides to the community. In addition it has updated its systems and registry procedures for registration, following industry best practices and has introduced an online dispute resolution process to solve the conflicts over domain names. It is also working to diversify and amplify its communication channels, both within the country and abroad.
LACTLD wishes to congratulate NIC Chile for such an important milestone in its growth.
